ArmyTek have a great reputation for producing solid, well supported and good value-for-money caving headlamps. As well as their popularity among cavers on the continent, they also have established contracts with military and police forces around the world due to their reliability and ruggedness.

The Wizard C2 is their entry-level main beam, with a light output and battery life suitable for most standard UK caving trips. Coupled with spare batteries it'd also be suitable for bigger expeditions, although you might want to consider higher models with bigger battery life.

With IP68-rated protection and a 10m submersion depth and 10m fall protection, you can be sure it'll survive pretty much anything a cave can throw at it. The magnetic charging system allows you effortlessly throw your helmet at it after a trip.

ArmyTek also cover their lamps with a 10 year manufacturer's warranty. If your lamp develops a fault within 10 years from purchase, get in touch with them and provide your order confirmation to prove purchase, and they'll arrange for repair or replacement of it - great peace of mind in a world of throwaway electronics.

Questions & Answers

Question: Will this lamp survive a cave?

Answer: Of course, we only sell cave-suitable lighting! As a minimum they will survive drops and temporary immersion in water, some will also handle extended immersion at depth. IP66 should be the minimum to consider for caving, IP68 will see you through any normal caving abuse.

Question: Are these suitable for surveying trips?

Answer: The magnetic charging connector on these lamps, while practical and user-friendly, can affect compasses when surveying, so be aware of this! If you're often surveying, you might want to look at a non-magnetic charging lamp.

Question: Is charging built in, or do I need a separate charger?

Answer: Charging is built-in on this lamp, using the provided cable.

Question: Is this lamp best as a main beam or a backup light?

Answer: This is suitable for use as a main beam. Nothing to stop you using it as a backup light, of course, but there are lighter-weight backup lamps out there.

Question: Is there a battery provided?

Answer: Yes, a battery is included with the product.

Question: What battery does this take?

Answer: A lithium-ion 18650 battery.

Question: Can I use unprotected battery cells?

Answer: We STRONGLY recommend not to! While this lamp does include some protection circuitry, the safety measures built into protected cells are much more reliable and can avoid other battery race conditions. In addition, the lower height of unprotected cells might make them incompatible with the battery compartment in this lamp. For the sake of a few pounds, it's surely worth avoiding a nasty chemical fire on your forehead deep underground!

Products are shipped by UK courier from our Lancashire warehouse. Orders are dropped in the post each day 3pm Monday-Friday.

Delivery usually takes 2-3 working days. We mostly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 hour, bulkier orders may be sent by Yodel.
