Responsible Business Practices and Charity
Every quarter, we pick a different charity or scheme as our donation charity. At the end of that quarter, we'll donate £1 for every order placed.
Our chosen charity could be something related to caver welfare (such as a rescue or advocacy organisation), exploration or ecological benefit charities (for example, a cleanup project or re-foresting charity).
Charities who have benefitted:
Q3 2023 - British Cave Rescue Council | Q4 2023 - The Ocean Cleanup | Q1 2024 - The Bendrigg Trust |
Q2 2024 - The Ghar Parau Foundation | Q3 2024 - Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust | Q4 2024 - Vision of Adventure |
We like to think of ourselves as a responsible small business, and in that respect we've committed to the following:
Running on Renewable Power
Our online shop runs entirely on renewable power, meaning our servers are powered by a mixture of hydro and wind power. Our office and stockroom is also on a renewable-only energy tarriff.
Reduced Packaging
We give our customers the option when ordering of choosing to minimise packaging by removing any unnecessary wrapping and boxes from their products, so the only waste will be the outer mailing bag (which is recyclable at your local soft plastics recycling bin).
Recycling
Any extra packaging and waste from our business is recycled, including soft plastics.
Supporting the Caving Community
We like to help out where possible, such as donating prizes to student caving organisations (CHECC) and the UK's caving conference Hidden Earth.
