Answer: Of course, we only sell cave-suitable lighting! As a minimum they will survive drops and temporary immersion in water, some will also handle extended immersion at depth. IP66 should be the minimum to consider for caving, IP68 will see you through any normal caving abuse.
Answer: Charging is built-in on this lamp, using the provided cable.
Answer: This is most suited to a lightweight backup light for sport cavers. It would be suitable as a main beam for shorter trips or novices though.
Answer: Yes, a battery is included with the product.
Answer: We STRONGLY recommend not to! While this lamp does include some protection circuitry, the safety measures built into protected cells are much more reliable and can avoid other battery race conditions. In addition, the lower height of unprotected cells might make them incompatible with the battery compartment in this lamp. For the sake of a few pounds, it's surely worth avoiding a nasty chemical fire on your forehead deep underground!
As well as safety reasons, the protection circuit will cut the power when a critical charge is reached. This prevents over-discharge, which can permanently ruin unprotected batteries, for example if the lamp is accidentally left switched on.
